What happens when the AI can't help?

It never pretends. Here's exactly what happens when a call is beyond what the receptionist can answer.

It never pretends

The receptionist never guesses and never makes up answers. If something is beyond what it can help with, it says so honestly and takes a message instead — it never promises anything it can't keep.

It always says at the start of the call that it's an AI. That's both honest and required by law.

It takes a message and tells you

It notes the name, the number the caller is calling from, and what it's about — and notifies you right away. You see every message under Messages in the portal, and get it by email.

The caller is told you'll call back. If it's about an appointment, it registers a request when you're the one who confirms the time — it never claims an appointment is confirmed unless it actually is.

A real emergency: it refers to 113

For dentists and other health businesses, the receptionist screens for acute situations. At any sign of a real emergency it always refers the caller to 113 — it never makes a diagnosis and never plays doctor.

The receptionist is not an emergency service, and it never replaces 113 or other emergency help.
